Soroptimists

Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures. I'm sure my phone needs its lens cleaned.

I'm joining the Soroptimists of Healdsburg (a couple miles north of here and where I lived before moving to Oregon) after 10 years in Soroptimists of Ashland. Beer on the Plaza is their annual fund raiser and it was lots of fun--good beer, music, dancing and people.

Pond Retreat

Panorama of the Pond. We moved the 5th Wheel up there on Sunday. Then moved an old deck up to it. Aman had to carry Aastha because she gets tiny little stickers in her feet. She loves to roll in the dirt after she's been swimming! And look closely at Daisy in the second to the last pic--she's flying.

Another gardening day

We planted 10 Crape Myrtles this weekend. They'll be abcolutely gorgeous. The second picture I took from the tractor as I was getting well aged horse manure for the new plants. One minute the dogs are calm and peaceful and the next...play time.

Time has sure flown. I've been here two months and am getting settled after a hectic start. I'm in the 40' RV now (first of August). To top off my fractured collarbone, the frustrations of moving and adjusting, I fried my computer. I spilled water on it and had to have the motherboard, keyboard and video card replaced. Ugh.
But, I'm in 2 book clubs, the Airiport Club (excellent gym), seeing old friends and enjoying my kids and grandkids. I still miss Oregon and my friends there and hope to visit often.
Daisy, too, loves the ranch. She loves to wander around looking for voles and any other critters to chase (and sometimes catch) and she and the other 2 (bigger) dogs play a lot together. She can run with them at their pace, though a much shorter time and loves to jump on the lab's back while the lab and shepard are wrestling around.

Happy 90th Dad--July 21, 2008

Christina, Aman, Hardeep, Amanda and Daisy drove up to Portland in my car--12 hours straight. Chris and I listened to our book club selection and the kids each were plugged into their own thing in the back seat, taking turns holding Daisy (who travels extremely well). It was a great visit. The rest of the pictures are on my "Keeping in Touch" blog.

Early morning

On and from the back deck. Lukhbir in comtemplation with tea.

Gardening day

I didn't takes many pictures of working, just relaxing!
My vegetable garden is doing very well and I finally transplanted the basil. Considering how late I started I'm happy to see baby eggplants, cucumbers and zucchini and lots of tomato blossoms. The second trough is almost ready for fall veggies.

The Good and the Frustrating

The garden has really grown in 12 days. We have baby eggplant and tomatoes already.

And Aastha and Daisy have become good friends, especially when it comes to playing tug-of-war with stuffed critters. Aastha drags Daisy all over the floor. The frustration with Daisy is that she also likes Bear (Shepherd mix) and he's taught her to chase the horses--not good. I'm working on that.

My frustration is that I actually fractured my collarbone and have to keep it as immobile as possible for 4 to 6 weeks. Yuck, that's the rest of summer :<( (see July 2)

More good....I'm getting well into the book club world here. I'm in Chris' book club and have now found a mystery club--one for sure and maybe even a better one coming up. I went to Copperfields last night to see three guest mystery writers who were great fun: Rhys Bowen, Simon Wood and Michelle Gagnon. I hadn't heard of any of them, but will now check them out.
