I'm putting wainscotting around the bottom of the slide-out where I didn't paint. (5/09 decided against the wainscotting--to cluttered looking). And there I am, proud of the first section of flooring we put in. Later, when it came to cutting pieces to fit odd places I wasn't so happy. None of us (Norma, Hardeep, Aman nor I) could cut the vinyl strips properly, so (6/09) it's still not finished around the edges:<( Norma has named my abode "Daffodill Cottage." (The paint color is Delightful Daffodil). I had a bit of a crisis yesterday when I couldn't get the water heater to work. But thanks to my most handy and skilled son, he'll make sure everything works for me.
First leveling--not easy on such uneven ground. Then gutting a lot of the inside, especially the dirty carpet. This is my first "house" do-it-yourself project. I've always been intimidated by the thought of rennovating, but thanks to HG-TV, I'm ready!!! Two strong grandsons help a lot too. It was amazing how much dirt there was under the carpet. And staples--hundreds of them holding down the carpet pad. Next step will be to install a fairly new type of vinyl flooring that looks like wood. Can't wait to get started.
This is a 2001 31' 5th Wheel the kids had from an RV trade-in. It was lived in temporarily by a young family who helped out at the ranch. We moved it from down by the barn to up next to the house. The location is great, pastoral views, close to the house but private and close to the driveway. I'll use it until the house sells and I can decide on something more permanent. Getting it up the hill through the tall, slippery wet grass was a challange!!!!
